CHISPAS, an on-campus organization that promotes immigrant rights, will be hosting a silent art auction and raffle on Friday at 6 p.m. at the District on 62nd Clubhouse in Gainesville, Fla. The proceeds will go towards a private scholarship designed to give financial relief to undocumented high school seniors who will be enrolling in a Florida community college or university. For more information, please visit www.chispasuf.org.
CHISPAS supports the 2012 Campaign for an American Dream, which is a walk across the country by five undocumented students to raise awareness about the DREAM Act. If you support this as well or want to learn more information about it visit cadwalk2012.org! Act now. DREAM now!
We would like to hear your opinion students! Many undocumented students come to this country at a very young age. They go to school thinking they are Americans until, one way or another, they find out they do not have the same privileges as their classmates. These kids are valedictorians, community leaders and the future of America.
But… what do you think? Do you think UF should openly accept undocumented students?
CHISPAS is currently working on a documentary that sheds light on the struggles undocumented youth faces. We would love to hear from some of you DREAMers! You can make this anonymous or you can share your true name if you are unafraid. This is not for any media publication, this is just so we can show our supporters (and opponents) why the DREAM Act makes sense.
SHARE YOUR VOICE. SHARE YOUR STORY. AND DREAM ON.

Tell me. What is the American way?
Is it leaving your home country and founding a new country on someone elses land?Pushing them either toward the west or just killing them then planting your flag and naming a new country?
Is it kidnapping people from 3rd world countries and bringing them back…
California’s decision to let undocumented immigrants apply for publicly funded financial aid for college offers illegal-immigrant youths in the largest state a new benefit after a federal measure to assist undocumented students failed last year.

Walking the streets of home,
Suspicious eyes following
My every move,
I go from block to block,
Journeying to my lifelong goal.
At school, the stares never stop,
I can see their thoughts coming to life.
They judge me, they criticize me,
They wait for the lion to attack me.
In the ‘hood, I see a face,
Staring down at me from every post.
The face is brown, dirty, Latino,
With a number to call for the I.C.E.
The face is sad, tired, afraid,
Scared of that cold, dark box.
I look into the eyes and see
An ancestor looking down on me.
I walk around and see around me
A neighborhood I thought I loved.
Now it’s different, distant, almost empty,
I can see tumbleweeds rolling by
I look around and never stop believing
That one day we’ll be one.
I DREAM of a day with no hate
That will pave the way to a brighter day.
We are one, we are Latinos,
We are blacks, we are Asians.
We all have life-long wishes,
We never stop our dreaming.
The Fight is alive,
Enough is enough,
Just let us speak
And hear our dream.
We dream of no more posters
We dream of no more hate
We dream of opportunity
We dream of a better life.
I am a DREAMer, I am a beaner,
I am someone with a plan,
I want to help, I want to succeed,
I am your friend, let me stand.
DREAMers, we are here
Let’s keep fighting
Because no one
Can crush our striving.
Walking the streets of home,
I don’t care anymore,
Because I won’t stop fighting
For what I believe is right.
DREAMers, unite
DREAMers, we fight
El pueblo unido
Jamás será vencido.
